Heartbreakers

Comedy
PG-13
Sex related content & dialogue
Directed by: David Mirkin
Written by: Robert Dunn & Paul Guay
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ray Liotta
Jason Lee, Gene Hackman

Simply put, “Heartbreakers” can be described as the female version of Frank Oz’s film from 1988, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”. Sigourney plays Max, a woman who marries wealthy men and then has her daughter, Page(Hewitt) seduce the men, so Max can cash in on the divorce cash.

Now, while this film doesn’t have loads of laughs, it still is enjoyable to see. Jennifer Love Hewitt is incredible in her outfits, good eye-candy for the males! She defiantly is better in these kinds of movies, rather than the teen slasher flicks. Gene hackman gets most of the laughs, as the hacking smoker. Liotta and Weaver are pretty average. Jason Lee is enjoyable like in all of his movies.

David Mirkin does a great job directing the story along, and keep the comedy funny, like in his last film, “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion”.

In closing, this movie surprised me, since I was going into the movie with average expectations. I actually wound up enjoying the film and enjoying Jennifer Hewitt! I think lots of people will end up liking this film, even though the trailer isn’t that pleasing. So see the movie and ignore the trailer.
