Violence, graphic violence
Directed & Written by: Stephen Sommers
Starring: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah
The Mummy was a mediocre, semi-fun, corny, 'popcorn movie'. It had the good special effects, with somewhat of a good story and action. Now, we get the sequel with less corny parts, more special effects and action.
I was really psyched for this movie, hoping it would be better than the original. I was REALLY let down. This movie was really dull and drown out. Plus, having a cute kid added to the movie didn't help. Adding a kid to a big action/adventure sequel ALWAYS spells trouble-remember The Phantom Menace?!
Even though there was more action in the movie, it just wasn't action packed-it was really dull, and did take awhile to get interesting. The ending was also a huge let down, with a HORRIBLE CGI scorpion battle.-the scorpion creature looked like it came out of a Mortal Combat game.
The best creatures(dog-like mummies) finally came at the end, and that too was a disappointment. The movie was one hundred and twenty minutes, and should have taken an hour and a half.
I prefer the original over the sequel, even though the original isn't that good. I would ONLY recommend this if you really want to see the sequel and the good special effects(except the end) that come with it. This was the first major disappointment of the summer.
