Someone Like You
Directed by: Tony Goldwyn
Written by: Laura Zigman(novel), Elizabeth Chandler
Starring: Ashley Judd, Greg Kinnear, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Barkin
Supposedly this movie explains why, men cheat and never stay with the same woman. The theory has to do with cows!, Yes cows! This movie was also advertised as a sleeper romantic comedy, well, they were partly right-it was a sleeper!
Ashley Judd plays Jane Goodale, a TV producer who's in a relationship with the executive producer, Ray(Greg Kinnear). As soon as they are ready to move in together, Ray dumps Jane, and Jane is forced to share an apartment with her coworker Eddie(Hugh Jackman). Jane soon realizes the reason men cheat, and writes a column, and becomes a sensation.
This movie was in no way romantic or comedic. There was no chemistry between Kinnear and Judd, or between Judd and Jackman. Jackman is good but needs to put to better use, and Marisa Tomei was a delight. This movie was really going nowhere, and the references of cows got really old really quick. I didn't care who ended up with who, even though I knew how it would end. This movie has nothing to offer, and it's sad that great talent was wasted on a horrible movie.
In closing-save your money or go rent something more enjoyable, like "Sleepless in Seattle" or "When Harry Met Sally".
